The most underrated taro milk mochi drink from a new teashop in Ktown!! I’ve been seeing posts everywhere about the viral taro mochi milk tea in China… and I can’t believe I found a dupe at a small tea shop in NYC. They also have sooo many mochi drink combos on the menu. You can also add milk mochi as a topping for $0.95. I usually stick to chain boba spots, but Sweetea actually impressed me. The storefront is tiny and lowkey, but you can tell they put so much care into every drink using fresh ingredients, from homemade taro paste to real fruit purees. *Taro Mochi Cheese Foam $6.95 WOW the milk mochi was super stretchy, silky, and creamy. I was told they make the mochi fresh in-house every morning, and the taro is made from actual taro instead of powder. The mochi-to-taro ratio was literally perfect. *Mango Mochi Pop $6.95 I chose coconut milk for this one, and it tasted like mango sticky rice dessert. The mango popping boba was juicy and they gave SO much boba too. It was a little sweet for me though, so I’d probably do no sugar next time.

Sweetea has a 4.8 rating and now I understand why. The taro mochi cheese foam milk tea was really good. The mochi was soft and chewy but not sticky, and it blended nicely with the taro. The cheese foam was light and not overly salty. We also tried the mango mochi pop. Even with no sugar it still had natural sweetness from the real mango jam and the popping pearls. Mango and milk actually work really well together. The cookies here are house-made and surprisingly good. The pecan cookie was my favorite β€” nutty and slightly crumbly. The red velvet cookie has cream cheese inside. Small shop but very cozy and thoughtfully designed. You can tell they make things fresh β€” they start preparing the mochi and fruit jam hours before opening.

Passing by Ktown, I stopped at this tiny, adorable bubble tea shop, Sweetea (28 E 33rd St). The moment I walked in, I realized my outfit perfectly matched the store’s color paletteβ€”everything was the same soft, buttery yellow. These little moments of joy in everyday life really do make you happy. The shop is filled with the cutest details: an adorable clock, fridge magnets, cloud decorations, milk-tea-shaped lights, and even a special cup holder just for photo ops. Honestly, it’s probably the most photogenic, best-for-pictures bubble tea shop I’ve ever been to! The owner was super warm and recommended their mochi series, so I ordered two drinks: the Cheese Foam Mochi Taro Milk Tea and the Mango Mochi with Popping Boba. Both were beautiful, but especially the bright yellow mango oneβ€”it matched my outfit again. The mochi slid effortlessly through the straw, so smooth that I literally said, β€œHow is this so silky?” The owner told me they make their mochi fresh every day, and I had just caught a newly made batchβ€”I was the first one to try it. A lot of chain shops prepare their mochi in advance, then freeze and thaw it later, which changes the texture. The silky mochi blended with tar

Absolutely the cutest hidden gem in K-town πŸ’› Their little lion logo is ADORABLE β€” honestly just walking in already made my day better. I came in feeling stressed, and somehow left completely healed 😭 The taro mochi drinks are insanely good. You can actually tell everything is made fresh β€” I saw them bringing out freshly made mochi and real taro right from the kitchen, which made me love this place even more. The brown sugar boba milk tea is also SO satisfying and perfectly balanced. Today was their first day reopening for Valentine’s Day, and they had a Buy 1 Get 1 FREE strawberry mochi drink πŸ˜±πŸ’— Such a sweet surprise. Super cozy vibe, super friendly people, and drinks made with real care. Definitely coming back!
